BEAM

The BEAM classroom is a behavior acquisition and modification classroom designed for early elementary students who have difficulty functioning in the regular or special education classroom.  The purpose of this program is to determine the reason for a behavior, to extinguish unwanted or harmful behavior by teaching and reinforcing a new, positive behavior, to teach relaxation and calm down techniques and to help students understand and manage their emotions.  The goal is to motivate students to succeed and continue with positive behaviors so that they may transition back into their previous classroom or least restrictive environment with their accommodations and behavioral supports.  Students participating in this program will continue to receive academic instruction as well as any therapies outlined in their IEP or behavior modification plan.
